Photogrammetric Recording of Archaeology in South-Eastern Arabia in Cultural Resource Management
Abstrakt (EN)
In what follows the main topic is the use of photogrammetry in the Sultanate of Oman, with which experts have monitored archaeological resources since the 1980s. Most readers probably have no clear idea of which photogrammetric methods are more useful. Survey and data recording there can be described as training or experimental recording. The reader will note the juxtaposition of photogrammetric images with conventional photographic ones. 3D scanning, often called laser scanning, a further option for measured imagery, has advantages and disadvantages vis à vis photogrammetry. The trend to inexpensive photogrammetric recording and rendering for most users is irreversible. The main challenge for a basis is to begin with sharp, well-lit photos with good contrast.
