La identidad afrolatinoamericana en la literatura: el negrismo en la poesía de Nicolás Guillén

Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest analizie i interpretacji poszczególnych wierszy Nicolása Guilléna występujących w trzech tomikach jego autorstwa: „Motivos de son”, „Sóngoro Cosongo” i „West Indies, Ltd.” Podstawą interpretacji jest przedstawienie problematyki związanej z tożsamością afro-latynoamerykańską, w zgodzie z założeniami negryzmu – nurtu literackiego koncentrującego się na afirmacji kultury afrykańskiej i jej dziedzictwa. Bazując na historiach opowiedzianych przez Nicolása Guilléna – czołowego przedstawiciela negryzmu w literaturze kubańskiej – analizowana jest marginalizacja kultury afrykańskiej w kontekście społeczeństwa amerykańskiego. Zasadniczym wątkiem pracy jest ukazanie, że tożsamość afro-latynoamerykańska w poezji zaangażowanej Guilléna jest integralną częścią historii i aktualności kultury amerykańskiej i światowej. Jego twórczość, choć początkowo była głosem w walce o równość społeczności czarnoskórej, z czasem przerodziła się w uniwersalny manifest każdego człowieka doświadczającego marginalizacji.

This thesis is devoted to the analysis and interpretation of several poems by Nicolás Guillén that appear in three of his volumes: “Motivos de son”, “Sóngoro Cosongo” and “West Indies, Ltd.” The basis of the interpretation is presentation of themes related to Afro-Latin American identity, in line with the postulates of negrismo, a literary movement centered on the affirmation of African culture and its heritage. Based on the stories told by Nicolás Guillén - the main representative of negrismo in Cuban literature – there’s been analyzed the marginalization of African culture in the context of American society. The guiding thread of the work is to show that the Afro-Latin American identity in Guillén's committed literature is an integral part of the history and actuality of American and world culture. His work, while initially a voice in the struggle for equality for the black community, has evolved over time into a universal manifesto for all people experiencing marginalization.

Esta tesis está dedicada al análisis e interpretación de poemas escogidos de Nicolás Guillén, que aparecen en tres volúmenes suyos: “Motivos de son”, “Sóngoro Cosongo” y “West Indies, Ltd.” La base de la interpretación es presentar temas relacionados con la identidad afrolatinoamericana, en línea con los postulados del negrismo, corriente literaria centrada en la afirmación de la cultura africana y su herencia. A partir de los relatos de Nicolás Guillén - principal representante del negrismo en la literatura cubana - se analiza la marginación de la cultura africana en el contexto de la sociedad americana. El hilo conductor de la tesis es mostrar que la identidad afrolatinoamericana en la poesía comprometida de Guillén es parte integrante de la historia y actualidad de la cultura americana y mundial. Su obra, aunque inicialmente fue una voz en la lucha por la igualdad de la comunidad negra, con el tiempo ha evolucionado hasta convertirse en un manifiesto universal de todas las personas que experimenten la marginación.
