Zagadnienie intencjonalności i temporalności bólu w ujęciu fenomenologicznym

W niniejszej pracy podejmuję próbę konceptualizacji doświadczenia bólu z wykorzystaniem aparatu pojęciowego fenomenologii Edmunda Husserla. Głównym celem rozważań jest przebadanie związków pomiędzy bólem a intencjonalnością i świadomością czasu. Wychodząc od krytyki dominujących współcześnie koncepcji wyjaśniających zjawisko bólu argumentuję za niewystarczalnością ich metod. Przedstawiam podstawy metody fenomenologicznej, uzasadniając postulat włączenia fenomenologii do dyskursu badań nad bólem. Prezentuję trudności towarzyszące analizie intencjonalności bólu. W oparciu o Husserlowską koncepcję cielesności przedstawiam propozycję przezwyciężenia owych trudności oraz prezentuję, w jakim znaczeniu możliwe jest w jej ramach mówienie o intencjonalności bólu. Rozważania uzupełniam namysłem nad negatywnym wpływem bólu na sensotwórcze zdolności świadomości, a tym samym na możliwość konstytucji przedmiotów intencjonalnych. Nawiązując do Husserlowskich Wykładów z fenomenologii wewnętrznej świadomości czasu opisuję problematykę retencjonalno-protencjonalnej koncepcji świadomości czasu oraz zagadnienie konstytucji obiektu czasowego i przypomnienia. Przedstawienie tych zagadnień prowadzi do przebadania związku łączącego cielesność ze świadomością czasu. Poprzez odniesienie doświadczenia bólu do zaprezentowanej ramy teoretycznej argumentuję za niemożliwością przypomnienia bólu w ścisłym znaczeniu tego słowa oraz daję fenomenologiczne uzasadnienie zjawiska rozciągania się czasu w obecności bólu, a także poczucia zastygnięcia czasu w konfrontacji ze skrajnie silnym doznaniem bólu.

In this paper I attempt to conceptualize the experience of pain using the framework of Edmund Husserl's phenomenology. The main aim of the paper is to examine the relationship between pain, intentionality and consciousness of time. Starting from a critique of the dominant contemporary concepts explaining the phenomenon of pain, I argue for the inadequacy of their methods. I present the foundations of the phenomenological method, justifying the demand for the inclusion of phenomenology in the discourse of pain research. I present the difficulties accompanying the analysis of the intentionality of pain. Based on Husserl's conception of corporeality, I present a way of overcoming these difficulties. I argue for a negative impact of pain on the sense-making capacity of consciousness, and thus on the possibility of the constitution of intentional objects. Referring to Husserl's The phenomenology of internal time-consciousness, I describe the retentional-protenational concept of time consciousness and the issue of the constitution of the temporal object and recollection. It leads to an examination of the relationship linking corporeality to time consciousness. Applying phenomenological framework to the experience of pain, I argue for the impossibility of pain recollection in the strict sense of the word and give a phenomenological justification for the phenomenon of time stretching in the presence of severe pain.
