Franz Grillparzer describes the story of ancient Medea in a trilogy, which allows him a detailed and psychologically motivated outline of the character. Thanks to this, viewers and/or readers of the drama series can gradually trace the emerging need for revenge, which will lead Medea to the decision to kill her own children, as the proper punishment for their father. The Grillparzer’s cycle has enjoyed and still enjoys interest for almost two hundred years, its success is due to the thought-out composition, numerous analogies that underline the psychological dimension of all the actions and decisions the main charakter makes.
