Praca podejmuje temat konfliktu cypryjskiego i analizuje jego wpływ na członkostwo Cypru w Unii Europejskiej. Przedstawiono genezę powstania państwa oraz proces, który doprowadził do uzyskania przez nie niepodległości. Uwzględniono uwarunkowania oraz przebieg konfliktu, a także próby jego rozwiązania, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Planu Annana jako najważniejszego projektu. Omówiono przedakcesyjne relacje cypryjsko-unijne, proces przygotowań oraz akcesji Cypru do Unii Europejskiej oraz najważniejsze konsekwencje z tego wynikające. Wyszczególniono rolę zmian traktatowych dokonanych w Unii Europejskiej przed największym historycznym rozszerzeniem obejmującym Cypr. Zanalizowano funkcjonowanie dorobku prawnego Unii Europejskiej na terytorium Cypru, a także ograniczenia, wynikające z trwającego konfliktu. Scharakteryzowano działalność Cypru w Radzie Unii Europejskiej w trakcie dwóch pełnionych prezydencji. Na tym przykładzie wskazano na zmiany, jakie zaszły w cypryjskiej polityce na przestrzeni kilku lat, które upłynęły od akcesji. Przeanalizowano rolę Cypru w kształtowaniu unijnej polityki wobec Turcji.

The paper addresses the subject of the Cypriot conflict and analyzes its impact on Cyprus's membership in the European Union. The genesis of the state's formation and the process that led to its gaining independence are presented. The conditions and course of the conflict are taken into account, as well as attempts at its resolution, with particular emphasis on the Annan Plan as the most important project. The pre-accession Cypriot-European relations, the process of preparations and accession of Cyprus to the European Union, and the most important consequences arising therefrom are discussed. The role of the treaty changes made in the European Union prior to the largest historical enlargement including Cyprus is specified. The functioning of the legal acquis of the European Union on the territory of Cyprus is analyzed, as well as the limitations resulting from the ongoing conflict. The activity of Cyprus in the Council of the European Union during the two presidencies held is characterized. On this example, the changes that occurred in Cypriot politics over the course of several years that have passed since accession are indicated. The role of Cyprus in shaping EU policy towards Turkey is analyzed.
