Abstract (EN)

The aim of the article is to present the opinion of Polish young audiences (18-30 year olds) on the media image of the European Union. The study is based on qualitative data gathered during focused group interviews. The respondents were asked to specify the situations in which the media inform about the EU and what subject matters are covered by the media. According to the interviewees, the EU-related topics are present in the media if they are connected with the affairs of specific Member States, when the subject matters are shocking or relating to a scandal. It has also been pointed out by the respondents that there is more information available during important events within the European Union (e.g. migration crisis). The respondents indicated that the information about the European Union is presented in accordance with the editorial policy of a certain media format, which often leads to biased coverage.
