Macrostructural elements in notes for consecutive interpreting

Niniejsza praca koncentruje się na analizie sposobów zapisu oraz przekładu elementów makrostruktury w notatkach do celów tłumaczenia konsekutywnego sporządzanych przez studentów i studentki specjalności Tłumaczenia ustne. W pierwszym rozdziale omówiono zagadnienia teoretyczne związane z tłumaczeniem konsekutywnym oraz technikami notacji w tłumaczeniu konsekutywnym. Część empiryczna pracy przedstawia charakterystykę próby badawczej oraz opis przebiegu badania, zawiera szczegółową analizę tekstów źródłowych pod kątem występowania elementów makrostrukturalnych, a także analizę właściwą. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone z trzech perspektyw: sposobu zapisu elementów spójności tekstowej, kontrastu między językami oraz analizy konkretnych fragmentów odzwierciedlających strukturę wypowiedzi. Mimo pewnych ograniczeń metodologicznych, autorce badania udało się zweryfikować postawione w pracy hipotezy, w szczególności te dotyczące roli pamięci podczas tłumaczeń. Wnioski sugerują, że uczestnicy badania w dużym stopniu opierają się na zapamiętywaniu – zwłaszcza w kontekście makrostruktury tłumaczonych tekstów.

This thesis examines the methods of recording and translating macrostructural elements in notes for consecutive interpreting taken by students specialising in Interpreting. The first chapter outlines theoretical concepts related to consecutive interpreting and the notation strategies used in consecutive interpreting. The empirical part presents the research sample and the research methodology, includes a detailed analysis of the source texts in terms of macrostructural elements, as well as the actual analysis. The study was approached from three perspectives: the methods of recording coherence elements, the contrast between languages and the examination of selected fragments that reflect the macrostructure. Despite certain research limitations, the author of the study was able to verify the stated hypotheses, particularly these concerning the role of memory during interpreting. The conclusions indicate that participants tended to rely significantly on memory, especially in the context of the macrostructure of the translated texts.
