Czy aby na pewno komplement? Współczesne postrzeganie komplementów

Tematem pracy jest współczesne postrzeganie komplementów. Praca składa się z trzech zasadniczych części. W pierwszej zreferowano stan badań dotyczących etymologii i znaczenia leksemu komplement oraz komplementowania jako aktu mowy, elementu etykiety językowej, strategii językowej i roli w komunikacji. Druga część zawiera analizę danych słownikowych i korpusowych, która pozwoliła zbadać najczęściej pojawiające się konteksty i przykłady użycia leksemu komplement, oraz danych multimodalnych ujawniających stereotypowe postrzeganie komplementowania w memach internetowych. W trzeciej części zamieszczono omówienie wyników badań ankietowych, w których koncentrowano się na zbadaniu rozumienia znaczenia i roli komplementu oraz postrzeganiu komplementowania. Pracę kończą wnioski i próba zbudowania nowej definicji komplementu.

The topic of the work is the contemporary perception of compliments. The work consists of three main parts. The first one reported the state of research on the etymology and meaning of the lexeme compliment and complimenting as a speech act, an element of linguistic etiquette, a linguistic strategy and a role in communication. The second part contains the analysis of dictionary and corpus data, which allowed for examining the most frequently occurring contexts and examples of use of the lexeme compliment, as well as multimodal data revealing the stereotypical perception of complimenting in Internet memes. The third part contains a discussion of the results of the survey, which focused on examining the understanding of the meaning and role of a compliment and the perception of complimenting. The work ends with conclusions and an attempt to build a new definition of a compliment.
