This book gives an overview of the role of German as a pluricentric language using the example of the Austrian variety of German. Aspects such as diminutive, the historical-cultural background or the censorship of Austrian literature (discontinuation of Austriazismus) are cited and other functions of the Austrian variety are worked out. After an analysis of dictionaries, the necessary consequences for language didactics (pluricentric textbooks) and translatorics (pluricentric trained translators) are discussed. Finally controversies in the view of whether and to what extent German is a pluricentric language will ultimately be resolved by the theory of anthropocentric linguistics.
