The paper presents the translations of the literary and linguistic works of N. I. Gretsch (1787-1867) into Polish: 1. «The Historical Background of the Russian Literature (Rys historyczny litera-tury rosyjskiej)» with the annexes (the works of K. Batyushkov, A. Bestuzhev, F. Bulgarin, M. Katchenovsky, N. Karamzin, P. Kornilovith, P. Köppen, P. Wiazemsky), Warsaw 1823 with the fragments of «The Short Review of the History of the Russian Literature» and «The Textbook of the Russian Literature» translated and edited by Samuel Bogumił Linde (the so-called «Polish Gretsch»), 2. The «Principles of the Russian grammar» («Początkowe prawidła rosyjskiej gramatyki», Warsaw 1834) translated by Antoni Bolesław Hlebowicz and «The Russian grammar» («Gramatyka rosyjska», Vilnius 1838; translator unknown). The paper is devoted to the problems of teaching the Russian language and literature in the Polish higher schools in the 19th century and the Polish-Russian cultural and scientific relations.
