The article offers a discussion of the title of kimeliarches, ‘treasurer', in Christian Nubia. The title is attested in seven inscriptions on the walls of cult places, here reedited or edited for the first time. Bearers of this title were mostly ecclesiastics, which suggests that treasuries they watched over were those of the Church. Arabic sources attest the presence of rich collections of valuable objects in Nubian churches.
