Tacere nel Decameron: forme e funzioni del silenzio

Niniejsza praca stanowi analizę motywu ciszy i powściągliwości słowa w wybranych nowelach Dekameronu Giovanniego Boccaccia. Celem pracy jest znalezienie odpowiedzi na pytanie, jakie funkcje narracyjne pełni milczenie w Dekameronie. Przedmiotem analizy jest osiem wybranych nowel, w których Boccaccio wykorzystuje ciszę do budowania konstrukcji narracyjnej. Praca z uwagi na swój zakres tematyczny została podzielona na dwie części. Pierwszy rozdział skupia się na formach ciszy i powściągliwości słowa w kontekście podstępu oraz na ich wpływie na rozwój akcji wybranych nowel Dnia trzeciego. Drugi rozdział porusza kwestię narracyjnych funkcji motta zdefiniowanego jako forma powściągliwości słowa w wybranych nowelach Dnia szóstego i dziewiątego. Praca analizuje motyw milczenia w Dekameronie rozumianego nie jako element tematyczny, lecz jako mechanizm konstrukcji narracyjnej, i poprzez przykłady pokazuje, że cisza nie tylko nie przerywa akcji, ale wręcz jest jej motorem i przyczynia się do jej zawiązania, rozwoju lub rozwiązania.

The thesis presents an analysis of the theme of silence and verbal restraint in the selected novellas from Giovanni Boccaccio's Decameron. The aim of this work is to determine the narrative functions of silence in the Decameron. The subject of analysis is eight novellas in which Boccaccio uses silence to build a narrative structure. Due to its thematic scope, the work is divided into two parts. The first chapter focuses on forms of silence and verbal self-control in the context of deception and their influence on the development of the action of selected Third Day novellas. The second chapter addresses the question of the narrative functions of the motto, defined as a form of verbal restraint, of selected tales from the Sixth and Ninth Days. The thesis analyzes silence in the Decameron, understood not as a thematic element, but as a mechanism of narrative construction, and through examples shows that silence not only does not interrupt action, but is actually its engine and contributes to its initiation, development, or denouement.

La presente tesi è un'analisi del tema del silenzio e dell'autocontrollo verbale nelle novelle selezionate del Decameron di Giovanni Boccaccio. Lo scopo del lavoro è determinare quali funzioni narrative svolga il tacere nel Decameron. L'oggetto dell'analisi sono otto novelle in cui Boccaccio sfrutta il silenzio per costruire una struttura narrativa. A causa del suo ambito tematico, il lavoro è diviso in due parti. Il primo capitolo si concentra sulle forme di silenzio e d'autocontrollo verbale nel contesto dell'inganno e sulla loro influenza sullo sviluppo dell'azione di novelle selezionate della Terza giornata. Il secondo capitolo affronta la questione delle funzioni narrative del motto, definito come forma dell'autocontrollo verbale, di novelle selezionate della Sesta e della Nona giornata. La tesi analizza il tacere nel Decameron, inteso non come elemento tematico, ma come meccanismo di costruzione narrativa, e attraverso esempi mostra che il silenzio non solo non interrompe l'azione, ma in realtà è il suo motore e contribuisce al suo avvio, sviluppo o scioglimento.
