Przeanalizowany został w nim rozwój podejścia prawnego do regulacji gier hazardowych, omówiono aktualnie obowiązujące akty prawne dotyczące rynku hazardowego w Polsce oraz zobrazowano strukturę i organizację przedstawionego w pracy ośrodka gry. Trzeci rozdział, empiryczny, zawiera założenia metodologiczne badań własnych, zastosowane metody i narzędzia badawcze, opisuje przebieg badań przeprowadzonych na pracownikach Royal Casino Grand. W badaniu wzięło udział 49 osób a wyniki zostały poddane analizie ilościowej.

The subject of this thesis is the impact of the casino environment on its personnel, with particular emphasis on employees’ private gambling attempts. Employment in a gambling establishment involves daily exposure to gambling games, individuals experiencing gambling-disorders, and intense emotions. It is also associated with shift work, a continuously present audiovisual system, and the potential occurrence of stressful situations. Gambling is generally regarded as a recreational activity intended to provide enjoyment and a means of spending leisure time. However, excessive engagement in gambling may result in numerous social, personal and occupational consequences, while the development of gambling-related problems often remain unnoticed during their internal stages. The aim of this study was to examine how working in the casino influences employees’ gambling behaviors and to identify factors that may increase, sustain or reduce interest in gambling, as well as modify gambling-related perceptions and experiences. An additional objective was to determine whether gambling activity among casino personnel is asocciated with negative consequences, whether it may be classified as problematic behawior and to what extent such activity is induced by the nature of employment in the casino. The study also sought to explore the phenomenon of gambling from legal, historical, medical and psychological perspectives, as well as through the theoretical approaches developed to explain it. The thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter is theoretical in nature. It presents the evolution of legislative approaches to gambling regulation, discusses the legal acts currently governing the gambling market in Poland and illustrates the structure and organization of the gambling establishment examined in this study. The second chapter, which is likewise theoretical, addresses the issue of gambling. It discusses its historical background, definitions and underlying nature as a social phenomenon. Furthermore, it reviews the major theoretical perspectives explaining gambling behawior, its consequences, contributing factors and relevant medical classifications. The third chapter, empirical in nature, presents the methodological assumptions underlying the author’s research, the research methods and instruments employed, and describes the course of the study conducted among employees of Royal casino Grand. The study involved 49 participants and collected data were subjected to quantitative analysis. The findings indicate that the nature of working in the casino does not negatively affect employees’ gambling activity and does not contribute to the development of gambling addiction among casino personnel. The study also made it possible to identify factors that condition gambling behaviors among respondents, as well as to determine additional relationships between job position, work schedule, length of employment and participants’ private experiences, particularly with regard to perceived levels of stress and anxiety.
