Kresy Wschodnie i ich wielokulturowość - między ideą a praktyką. Casus dwóch prywatnych muzeów kresowych z Mazowsza

dc.abstract.enThe story of the former Eastern Borderlands is mainly constructed through literary, scientific, and popular science texts as well as memoirs. Recently, museum initiatives (including digital and online projects) have contributed to this storytelling. To a large extent, the initiatives are organized by the state or local governments. However, it must be noted that the mission of preserving the memory of the Eastern Borderlands and educational efforts concerning their history is also a domain of private individuals. Among the latter, private collectors and museums founded by them are worth mentioning. The article will focus on two examples of such private museums, located in the Mazovia region, namely: Muzeum Kresów i Ziemi Ostrowskiej (Museum of the Eastern Borderlands and the Ostrowski Region) and Muzeum Lwowa i Kresów Południowo-Wschodnich (Museum of Lviv and the South-Eastern Borderlands). While analysing their collections and exhibition strategies, I will focus on the image of the Borderlands they convey. Contemporary interpretations of the former Eastern Borderlands concentrate around their multicultural character. However, the above-noted museums prove that not all narrations are so clear-cut.
dc.abstract.plW artykule zaprezentowano dwa muzea prywatne z Mazowsza, które podejmują tematykę kresową. Są to Muzeum Kresów i Ziemi Ostrowskiej w Ostrowi Mazowieckiej oraz Muzeum Lwowa i Kresów (Południowo-Wschodnich) w Kuklówce Radziejowickiej. Zanalizowano ich zbiory, pomysły ekspozycyjne oraz strategie wystawienniczo-retoryczne. Wyłaniający się z nich obraz tytułowych Kresów ma charakter w dużej mierze polonocentryczny. Cechą charakterystyczną jest również przyjęty cel, by poprzez odwołania do tematyki kresowej propagować postawy patriotyczne, narodowe. Nie oznacza to braku tematyki zróżnicowania etnicznego i kulturowego terenów, które przywołują - Grodzieńszczyzny (Ostrów), Lwowa i ziemi stanisławowskiej (Kuklówka Radziejowicka), jest ona jednak podporządkowana narracji głównej. Na tych przykładach dobrze widać, że preferowana współcześnie narracja o wielokulturowości województw wschodnich II Rzeczypospolitej oraz próba odchodzenia od nazewnictwa Kresy na rzecz określenia neutralnego - administracyjnego – jest nieoczywista.
