Haben Esperanto-Sprecher ein gemeinsames Weltbild? Zu den Ergebnissen einer Fragebogenstudie

The title concept goes back to the ideas of W. von Humboldt, but also derives from the relativism of Sapir and Whorf. There has recently been conducted research on this topic by the Lublin School, Poland. The linguistic worldview is a language-entrenched interpretation of reality. The Lublin School assumes that the linguistic worldview is created in a speech and culture community. So far the studies on this idea have been based solely on natural ethnic languages. The project presented here assumes that Esperanto is developing in a natural way and therefore can also be analysed in terms of cultural linguistics. This paper presents the results of the pilot study on the linguistic worldview of 32 advanced Esperanto speakers. The study shows not only that active Esperanto speakers present a coherent worldview based on the sense of belonging to the community, its culture and norms, but also that there are areas where the worldviews are divergent. Future research plans are also presented.
