Związek poziomu empatii z czasem studiowania na kierunku psychologia

dc.abstract.enThe presented master's thesis is of theoretical and empirical nature, its purpose was to analyze the relationship between the level of empathy and the time spent studying psychology. Additionally, the study was testing the relationship between the preferred specialization, psychological-related experience, gender, age, and the level of empathy in female and male students of the discussed field of study. The study was conducted in a stationary form on 205 female and male students of psychology at the University of Warsaw. The study utilized short form of the Empathy Quotient and the Kwestionariusz aprobaty społecznej (questionnaire for measuring social approval). Participants were also asked to complete a personal data form, which included questions about age, gender, and education, as well as additional questions regarding their psychological education. Despite the variety of the literature on the subject, which was the basis for formulating research hypotheses in the conducted study, none of the five hypotheses were supported by the data. The research has shown that the level of empathy in psychology students at the University of Warsaw does not change with the length of study – there were no statistically significant differences between the five groups compared. The relationship between the level of empathy and preferred specialization, gender, and age was not statistically significant either, only in the third hypothesis there was a low statistical tendency, which could indicate that students with psychological-related experience could present a higher level of empathy than students without such background. In conclusion, the results of the study do not indicate a significant relationship between the level of empathy among psychology students at the University of Warsaw and variables such as duration of study, preferred specialization, psychological-related experience, gender, and age.
dc.abstract.plPrezentowana praca ma charakter teoretyczno-empiryczny, jej celem była analiza zależności pomiędzy poziomem empatii a czasem studiowania na kierunku psychologia. Dodatkowo w pracy badano związek pomiędzy preferowaną specjalizacją, doświadczeniem „okołopsychologicznym”, płcią oraz wiekiem a poziomem empatii u studentek i studentów omawianego kierunku. Badanie przeprowadzono w formie stacjonarnej na 205 studentkach i studentach kierunku psychologii Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone za pomocą Skróconej skali ilorazu empatii oraz Kwestionariusza aprobaty społecznej. Osoby badane poproszono dodatkowo o wypełnienie metryczki z pytaniami o wiek, płeć i wykształcenie oraz odpowiedź na pytania dodatkowe związane z kształceniem się na kierunku psychologii. Pomimo zróżnicowania literatury przedmiotu, stanowiącej podstawę do postawienia hipotez badawczych w przeprowadzonym badaniu żadna z pięciu hipotez nie została potwierdzona. Badania wykazały, iż poziom empatii u studentek i studentów kierunku psychologii Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego nie zmienia się wraz z długością okresu studiowania – pomiędzy pięcioma porównywanymi grupami nie wystąpiły żadne różnice istotne statystycznie. Również związek poziomu empatii z preferowaną specjalizacją, płcią i wiekiem nie okazał się istotny statystycznie, jedynie w hipotezie trzeciej wystąpiła słaba tendencja statystyczna, która mogła wskazywać na to, iż studenci z doświadczeniem okołopsychologicznym mogli prezentować wyższy poziom empatii od studentów bez takiego doświadczenia. Podsumowując – wyniki przeprowadzonego badania nie wskazują na istotne powiązanie pomiędzy poziomem empatii studentów kierunku psychologii Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego a zmiennymi takimi jak: czas studiowania, preferowana specjalizacja, doświadczenie okołopsychologiczne, płeć oraz wiek.
