Alt-Right Pipeline: Jak YouTube oswaja użytkowników z ideologią Alternatywnej Prawicy

dc.abstract.enThis thesis examines the phenomenon of political radicalization of YouTube users toward the far-right ideology of the Alt-Right. The theoretical chapters cover the origins and main beliefs of the Alternative Right, and then describe the phenomenon known as the Alt-Right Pipeline, a conceptual model regarding the radicalization of YouTube users due to exposure to certain right-wing content present on the platform. The author also discusses the possible role of content recommendation algorithms in this process. The empirical part of the paper takes the form of a case study and consists of an analysis of three internet groups cited in the academic literature as potential gateways that can familiarize users with the extreme ideas of the Alternative Right and potentially contribute to their radicalization. These circles are the Intellectual Dark Web, Alt-Lite (the moderate wing of the Alt-Right) and the anti-SJW community, a group of creators who focus on criticising feminism, diversity and progressive trends. The author examined selected videos published on YouTube by popular creators who represent these three categories, with the aim of identifying problematic views and ideas that allude to Alt-Right ideology or familiarize viewers with the rhetoric of the far right. The final section of the paper presents the author's conclusions that result from this analysis.
dc.abstract.plNiniejsza praca dotyczy zjawiska radykalizacji politycznej użytkowników portalu YouTube w kierunku skrajnie prawicowej ideologii Alt-Right. W rozdziałach teoretycznych przybliżono genezę oraz główne założenia ideologii Alternatywnej Prawicy, a następnie opisano zjawisko znane w anglojęzycznej literaturze jako Alt-Right Pipeline, czyli koncepcję dotyczącą radykalizacji poglądów użytkowników portalu YouTube pod wpływem kontaktu z pewnymi prawicowymi treściami obecnymi na platformie. Omówiono również możliwą rolę algorytmów polecających treści w tym procesie. Część empiryczna pracy ma postać studium przypadku i polega na analizie trzech środowisk wymienianych w literaturze naukowej jako potencjalne „punkty wejścia”, które mogą oswajać użytkowników ze skrajnymi ideami Alternatywnej Prawicy i potencjalnie przyczyniać się do radykalizacji ich poglądów. Te środowiska to Intelektualny Dark Web, Alt-Lite (umiarkowane skrzydło Alternatywnej Prawicy) oraz tzw. środowisko anty-SJW, czyli grupa twórców skupiających się na krytyce feminizmu, różnorodności i progresywnych trendów. Zbadano wybrane treści publikowane na portalu YouTube przez popularnych twórców zaliczanych do tych trzech kategorii, celem zidentyfikowania problematycznych poglądów i idei, które nawiązują do ideologii Alt-Right lub oswajają widzów z retoryką skrajnej prawicy. W ostatniej części pracy zaprezentowano wnioski autora, które wynikają z przeprowadzonej analizy.
