Does “Absence” Really Mean Absence? The Position of Sanskrit Philosophers-Grammarians

dc.abstract.enThe present article aimed to present one aspect of the semantics of negation in Sanskrit discussed by Indian grammarians, etymologists, and philosophers across the centu-ries. It focused on the analysis of negative compounds as constructions that seem to be particular to Sanskrit language description and that reveal the combination of a purely technical, syntactic approach with a more cognitive, metapho-rical perspective.
