dc.abstract.enImagination poétique (1552) of Barthélemy Aneau is one of the first French books of emblems. In his preface the author openly poses the problem of relations between image and poetry, claiming to want to give voice and life to dead and silent images, free them from the mythological sense in which some have already been used. The analysis of the results, and above all the comparison between the original ovidian context and the didactic and moralizing meaning imposed by Aneau, shows that the realization is less original than the project. The poet does not often break with the mythological sense, but builds an area of poetic freedom.
