W Tanturze figi dojrzewały w maju. Analiza narracji o nadmorskiej wiosce palestyńskiej, która przestała istnieć

dc.abstract.enThe aim of the present dissertation is to discuss the dynamics of narratives constructed around the fate of Tantura – a Palestinian village destroyed in the wake of 1948 ethnic cleansing. The study of the narratives has been arranged in in two parts. One of them (Chapter I) covers the relatively thorough overview of the sources dealing with the research topic and examines the circumstances in which they emerged. It also introduces the specificity of the source material, including the works such as those written by Israeli and Palestinian historians, databases of memories, village memorial books, documentary films and literary fiction. The second part of the study (Chapter II) is focused on Tantura itself, however not as much on its history as on different ways it was presented and imaged, which depended on the particular author’s specific intentions. In fact, the very few available and somewhat non-conventional sources that allow us to explore the past of the village and its forgotten massacre, are for many historians not sufficient to definitely state what actually happened in Tantura in one night in May 1948. What one can do, however, is to retrieve from them different representations of the place – as a Palestinian idyllic village, a paradise, a battleground, an Israeli kibbutz and, finally, a peculiar non-place embedded in the Palestinian collective memory. Importantly enough, when analyzing and interpreting the narratives, one should consider them in the context of processes and phenomena such as the preponderance of oral history, marginalization of the so-called history from below, and settler colonialism – all of which make the studies of the destroyed Palestinian village a truly multidimensional task.
dc.abstract.plNiniejsza praca ma na celu omówienie dynamiki narracji o Tanturze – palestyńskiej wsi zniszczonej w wyniku czystki etnicznej w 1948 roku. Badanie owych narracji obejmuje dwie części. Pierwsza jest przeglądem źródeł dotyczących przedmiotu badań z równoczesnym omówieniem okoliczności ich powstania. Przybliża ona specyfikę dostępnych materiałów – takich, jak prace historyków izraelskich i palestyńskich, bazy wspomnień, księgi pamięci, filmy dokumentalne czy też fikcję literacką. Druga część to także drugi rozdział pracy, który dotyczy już samej Tantury, lecz nie tyle jej historii, co sposobów jej przedstawiania i wyobrażania dyktowanych przez konkretne intencje autora. Nieliczne dostępne, po części niekonwencjonalne źródła, którymi można się posłużyć badając dzieje wsi i zapomnianej masakry w Tanturze według wielu historyków nie wystarczają, by stwierdzić, co faktycznie miało miejsce w jedną z majowych nocy 1948 roku. Z pewnością pozwalają one natomiast wydobyć różne reprezentacje wsi – jako palestyńskiego, idyllicznego portu, raju na ziemi, pola bitwy, izraelskiego kibucu, a wreszcie i osobliwego nie-miejsca żywego w pamięci zbiorowej Palestyńczyków. Przy okazji analizy i interpretacji tych narracji istotne było zwrócenie uwagi na takie procesy i zjawiska, jak dominacja palestyńskiej historii ustnej, marginalizowanie historii oddolnej czy kolonializm osadniczy, czyli elementy, które sprawiły, że badanie historii palestyńskiej wsi to zadanie wielowymiarowe.
