| dc.abstract.en | The article written by the researcher of classic literature and its reception in the 19th century studies the editions of Polish translations of The Song of Roland which preceded the acclaimed translation by Tadeusz Żeleński (Boy), published several times since 1932. The author delves into the poetic translations authored by Seweryna Duchińska, née Żochowska (1866) and Lucjan Siemieński (1878), and the prose translation by Kazimierz Król (1903). She describes the circumstances surrounding their creation and portrays the environments in which other Polish translations of The Song of Roland were created, and how they were aiming at particular readers. She analyzes the scholarly, literary and social goals of these editions, as well as their translatory, artistic, editorial and ideological principles. She explores their connection with the development in the 19th century of knowledge of heroic and chivalric narratives, and considers the cultural significance of the chivalric ethos in the Middle Ages and later. |

| dc.abstract.other | L’article de la chercheuse en littérature ancienne, s’occupant aussi de sa réception au XIXe siècle, présente les éditions des traductions polonaises de la Chanson de Roland qui ont précédé la traduction la plus fameuse, c’est-à-dire celle de Tadeusz Żeleński (Boy), publiée à maintes reprises depuis 1932. Elle présente les circonstances dans lesquelles ont été effectuées et éditées les traductions poétiques de Seweryna Duchińska née Żochowska (1866) et de Lucjan Siemieński (1878), ainsi qu’une traduction en prose de Kazimierz Król (1903). Elle décrit les milieux où ont été créées d’autres versions polonaises de la Chanson de Roland et leur orientation vers les destinataires bien déterminés ; elle analyse les objectifs scientifiques, littéraires et sociaux qui guidaient les publications ainsi que les principes artistiques, idéologiques et ceux portant sur la traduction et l’édition qui y ont été adoptés. En plus, elle examine leurs corrélations avec le développement au XIXe siècle du savoir sur les poèmes épiques médiévaux et l’importance de l’éthos chevaleresque aussi bien dans la culture médiévale que celle datant des années postérieures. |
