Dekoracyjne formy. Przedmioty projektu Keilowej na fotografiach Dorysa

Uproszczony widok
Benedykt Jerzy Dorys (1901-1990) was the most renowned portrait photographers in Warsaw in 1930s. But his activity was not limited to one specific kind of photography, he created documents of Jewish town Kazimierz on the Vistula, one of the most important reportages of this time. He was engaged in commercial photography, mostly fashion, for press and advertising. In the article the significance of this type of photography is analyzed with the example of photos of some silver-plated objects, designed by young sculptor, Julia Keilowa (1902-1943) for renowned Warsaw tableware companies (Fraget, Henneberg Brothers, Norblin). Dorys’ photographs are stylistically concordant with the modern design of objects that seems to be rather sculptures than everyday-life objects. In the analysis they are compared to some photographs of modern sculptures, to emphasize the association of commercial photography in 1930’s with trends in modern visuality, in art and culture.
