W piekłowzięciach – o tożsamości samobójcy w „Dzieciach nędzy” Stanisława Przybyszewskiego

dc.abstract.enThis master's thesis examines Stanisław Przybyszewski's novel Children of Misery, focusing on the issues of suicide, identity, and the concept of the naked soul, which is reflected not only in the novel’s plot but also in its structure. By juxtaposing the narrative structure with the views of the sad Satan on the construction of the novel, I aim to demonstrate how the author's literary form supports reflections on the human condition and the self-destructive tendencies of the characters. A significant element of this work is the comparison of suicidal thoughts and behaviors in the novel with various psychological and philosophical concepts from the 19th and 20th centuries, which provides deeper insight into the characters' motivations and highlights how Przybyszewski's work reflects fundamental existential issues. The analysis leads to the conclusion that suicide in Przybyszewski's novel becomes the ultimate expression of the characters' struggle for their own identity, as well as an attempt to transcend the boundaries of existence, placing their fates within broader considerations of freedom, self-destruction, and existential rebellion.
dc.abstract.plPoniższa praca magisterska bada powieść Dzieci nędzy Stanisława Przybyszewskiego, skupiając się na zagadnieniach samobójstwa, tożsamości i koncepcji „nagiej duszy”, która znajduje swoje odzwierciedlenie nie tylko w fabule powieści, ale również w jej strukturze. Poprzez zestawienie struktury narracyjnej z poglądami smutnego szatana na temat konstrukcji powieści, ukazuję, jak autorska forma literacka wspiera refleksje nad kondycją ludzką oraz autodestrukcyjnymi skłonnościami bohaterów. Istotnym elementem tej pracy jest zestawienie myśli i zachowań jednostek samobójczych w powieści z koncepcjami psychologicznymi i filozoficznymi XIX i XX wieku, co pozwala lepiej zrozumieć ich motywacje oraz to, jak twórczość Stanisława Przybyszewskiego odzwierciedla fundamentalne problemy egzystencjalne. Całość analizy prowadzi do wniosku, że samobójstwo w Dzieciach nędzy staje się ostatecznym wyrazem walki bohaterów o własną tożsamość, a także próbą przekroczenia granic istnienia, wpisując ich losy w szersze rozważania nad wolnością, autodestrukcją i egzystencjalnym buntem.
