The Humanitarian-Development-Peacebuilding nexus in real life: challenges and opportunities for peace actors in Burundi

Uproszczony widok
This thesis examines the implementation of the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) nexus, also known as the Triple Nexus, from the perspective of peacebuilding actors in Burundi. Specifically, it aims to assess the impact of unmet humanitarian needs on peacebuilding efforts and explore the potential of the Triple Nexus approach to mitigate this issue. While the Triple Nexus has been extensively documented as a strategy to address the increasing, complex, and interrelated needs in protracted conflicts, peacebuilding actors in Burundi lack awareness of its importance and potential benefits. This research seeks to contribute to ongoing debates on the Triple Nexus, focusing on its relevance within the context of peacebuilding initiatives. Through an extensive examination of existing literature, qualitative and quantitative research methods, this study aims to raise awareness among peacebuilding actors in Burundi about the potential of the Triple Nexus approach. By identifying barriers to its adoption and proposing recommendations for its implementation, this research strives to facilitate the integration of humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding efforts in Burundi. Ultimately, this thesis aims to provide practical insights and recommendations that can inform policy and practice, promoting greater collaboration and coordination among stakeholders in pursuit of sustainable peace and development in Burundi.
