dc.abstract.enThis article revisits the well-known exchange between poets Robert Frost and Wallace Stevens, purportedly occurring around 1940, wherein they traded epithets concerning each other's poetics. It reexamines the dating and the plausibility of this anecdote while exploring lesser-known terms Frost allegedly used in reference to Stevens' poetics—both during and beyond their encounter. By closely analyzing Frost's notorious notebooks, this brief analysis provides a deeper understanding of his critical epithets and their broader implications.
dc.abstract.plArtykuł analizuje znaną wymianę zdań między poetami Robertem Frostem a Wallacem Stevensem, która rzekomo miała miejsce około 1940 roku, gdy obaj wymienili epitety dotyczące swojej twórczości poetyckiej. Praca ponownie bada datowanie i wiarygodność tej anegdoty, a także eksploruje mniej znane terminy, które Frost miał rzekomo używać w odniesieniu do poetyki Stevensa—zarówno podczas ich spotkania, jak i w innych kontekstach. Poprzez szczegółową analizę słynnych notatników Frosta, artykuł pozwala lepiej zrozumieć jego krytyczne epitety oraz ich szersze implikacje.
