dc.abstract.en	The article discusses the problem of a place of literary translation in the symbolic space with reference to concepts of space presented in the works of Ernest Cassirer, Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Yi-Fu Tuan. It implies that the literary translation consists on moving the text from the unknown part of the symbolic space to another one which is a component of the view of the world, i.e. one of the elements which give the feeling of safety to a man. However, by this act a man usurps a part of the space which members of other culture consider their. Thereby, the concept of translation as a field of an inevitable struggle for the symbolic power becomes more clear.
