The chapter is devoted to the discussion and drawing the conclusions from the collection of the chapters in the book. The chapter reflects the many scholarly perspectives on understanding teacher’s work and teacher education and improving teacher education through addressing important related issues of policy, professionalism, and pedagogy. The rich quality of the work of colleagues from a range of geographic, political, economic, cultural, educational, and research contexts, has a significant role to play in inspiring researchers, policymakers and practitioners by identifying some directions, questions, and methods through which they may deepen their examination of the topic. A synthesis of the twelve chapters organized under the two parts of this volume (entitled “Policy in Recruiting and Educating the Best Teachers” and “Developing and Educating the Best Teachers: Pedagogy and Professionalism”) shows the similarities of the presented research findings and provides interesting common themes and lessons learnt that are presented in the chapter.
