trans - 1,2-Diaminocyclohexane and Its Derivatives in Asymmetric Organocatalysis

Readily available enantiomerically pure trans -1,2-diaminocyclohexane (DACH) is one of the most important chiral scaffolds successfully used in the construction of many ligands and catalysts for asymmetric synthesis. In this chapter, we have highlighted the organocatalysts derived from trans -DACH, developed over the last 20 years. Some of the discussed structures have found extensive application in catalysis (e.g. Takemoto's catalyst) and are commercially available. In the second part, selected and most relevant examples of applications of trans -DACH and its derivatives in asymmetric organocatalysis are presented.
