The Dynamics of Resistance: Moral Concepts in Sīmīn Dāneshvar’s Sūvashūn

Uproszczony widok
The occupation of Iran by the Allied forces during the 2nd World War was one of many events that significantly affected the lives of Iranians and prompted them, consciously or not, to reconsider their own attitude toward foreign dominance. Despite the country’s plea of neutrality, and due to Reza Shah’s sympathy for Germany among other reasons, Iran was invaded and its sovereignty impaired. The occupation was a serious blow to a country which, at that time, was already struggling with many internal problems such as hunger, poverty, poor health care, as well as increasing animosity between central government and local tribes.
