English Vocabulary Learning in children aged 11-16 with book based and platform based approaches - a study of learning preferences

dc.abstract.enThis bachelor's thesis focuses on analyzing two methods of teaching English words among children aged 11 to 16: the textbook method and the platform-based method (utilizing short films available on the Internet). Additionally, two surveys were conducted among both students and teachers to investigate the use of these methods. The aim of the thesis is to identify the benefits and limitations of both methods in the context of teaching English vocabulary to school-aged children. The first chapter of the thesis discusses theoretical aspects, based on selected literature, such as various aspects of vocabulary and the characteristics of the textbook and platform- based methods. Additionally, the learning process among children in the analyzed age group is described. Subsequently, in the second chapter of the thesis, an analysis of the results of two surveys conducted among students and teachers was carried out. The obtained results were discussed and analyzed in detail. The data analysis allowed for the identification of the strengths and weaknesses of both methods.
dc.abstract.plNiniejsza praca licencjacka koncentruje się na analizie dwóch metod nauki angielskich słów wśród dzieci w wieku od 11 do 16 lat: metody podręcznikowej oraz współczesnej (wykorzystującej krótkie filmy dostępne w Internecie). Ponadto, przeprowadzono badanie na podstawie dwóch ankiet wśród dzieci i nauczycieli w celu zbadania stosowania tych metod. Praca ma na celu zidentyfikowanie korzyści i ograniczeń obu metod w kontekście nauki słownictwa angielskiego wśród dzieci w wieku szkolnym. W pierwszej części pracy omówiono aspekty teoretyczne, na podstawie wybranej literatury, takie jak różne aspekty słownictwa oraz charakterystyka metody podręcznikowej i współczesnej. Dodatkowo, opisano proces uczenia się wśród dzieci w analizowanej grupie wiekowej. Następnie, w drugiej części pracy, dokonano analizy wyników dwóch ankiet przeprowadzonych wśród uczniów oraz nauczycieli. Otrzymane rezultaty zostały szczegółowo omówione i przeanalizowane. Analiza danych pozwoliła zidentyfikować mocne i słabe strony obu metod.
