Refining Big Data for the new information source

dc.abstract.enMore than 90 percent of information is recorded in digital form. Resources of this scale are referred as a Big Data. Analysis of this information can provide a new source of valuable information. In the study the process of obtaining them – especially from social networking sites – is named refining of network information. Confirmation a usefulness of refining are the results of predictions of support for each of the political parties participating in the parliamentary and presidential elections in Poland in 2011 and 2015. The adopted methodology and the results of quantitative research shows that refining of data, only from the Web, can be a reliable source of information about the status and changes of the political sympathies at the time of run-up to elections.
