Developing a Reflective Practitioner through Telecollaboration in Language Teacher Preservice Education – a Bottom-up Perspective

dc.abstract.enThe article presents the experience and reflection on an international telecollaborative project in the light of training the language teachers as reflective practitioners. Student teachers of the Institute of Applied Linguistics at the University of Warsaw (UW) collaborated with student teachers of the Faculty of Education and Social Work at the University of Valladolid (UVa) within the framework of the EVALUATE project in the winter semester 2017/2018. The exchange aimed at developing professional teaching skills, language and digital competences. However, in the described study the exchange is observed from the perspective of the student participants and their teachers. This paper focuses on the impact of such intercultural exchange on developing the reflective competence by preservice teachers. It also highlights the interrelation between the research track and content track within the framework of the project. The outcomes of the experience go beyond this particular exchange and may be generalized to a wider educational environment which involves telecollaboration at various educational and professional levels.
