Comparing the Effectiveness of Teacher- Produced vs. Ready-Made Teaching Materials for Young Learners in TEYL Classrooms

dc.abstract.enThis paper aims to investigate the influence of how different teaching materials can have an impact on students' learning outcomes in English language lessons for young learners (TEYL). With English becoming a global lingua franca and a mandatory subject in primary education worldwide, the introduction of English at an early age as an additional language has become commonplace. Teaching materials hold significant importance not only in foreign language instruction but also in education. They play a crucial role in facilitating effective teaching and learning experiences across various subjects and disciplines. Whether it is teacher produced, or ready-made (commercialized), teaching materials provide educators with tools to engage students, present information, and foster understanding. These materials contribute to creating a structured and interactive learning environment, enhancing the overall teaching experience and supporting students' academic progress. Recognizing the importance of student engagement in language learning, this study focuses on exploring how teacher-produced teaching materials can enhance students' engagement in TEYL lessons. By creating a structured and interactive learning environment, these materials contribute to enhancing the overall teaching experience and supporting students' academic progress. The findings of this research will provide valuable insights for educators in selecting and producing teaching materials that optimize student engagement in TEYL and beyond.
