| dc.abstract.en | The presentation is part of the project "Costumes of Authority. The Image of Royalty and Clergy in Christian Nubia", directed by Karel Innemée at the Faculty of Archaeology, University of Warsaw. Various aspects of royal representations, including their physical and individual appearances became a focus of our discussions. The classic study The King's Two Bodies. A Study in Mediaeval Political Theology, by Ernst Kantorowicz, explores the concept of a king having both a political and natural body. This paper analyses the representations of Nubian authorities from the medieval period in the context of a comparison with their predecessors from the Napatan and Meroitic periods. The research explores and discusses whether the representations reflect the physical features of an individual or whether they are an element of the body politic. This and further questions shall arise in the text, though answering them may not always be possible. |

Obraz rodziny królewskiej i kleru w chrześcijańskiej Nubii.", prowadzonego przez Karela Innemée na Wydziale Archeologii Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. W trakcie naszych dyskusji skupiliśmy się na różnych aspektach przedstawień władzy, w tym na fizycznym i indywidualnym wyglądzie przedstawicieli władzy. Klasyczna praca The King's Two Bodies. A Study in Medieval Political Theology autorstwa Ernsta Kantorowicza bada koncepcję, w której król posiada zarówno ciało polityczne, jak i naturalne. Niniejszy referat analizuje przedstawienia nubijskich władz z okresu średniowiecza, porównując je z ich poprzednikami z okresu napatańskiego i meroickiego. Badania te badają i omawiają, czy przedstawienia te odzwierciedlają fizyczne cechy jednostki, czy też są elementem ciała politycznego. Te oraz inne pytania pojawiają się w tekście, choć udzielenie na nie odpowiedzi nie zawsze będzie możliwe. |
