dc.abstract.enThe work is a presentation of the historical outline of the formation of the Polish Army in the USSR, which was transformed into the 2nd Polish Corps later in World War II operations, with General Wladyslaw Anders as its commander. The background of the use of the 2nd Polish Corps in the Battle of Monte Cassino fought in May 1944 during the Allied campaign on the Apennine Peninsula was also presented. The figure of Second Lieutenant Jan Miszkiel - a soldier of the 15th Vilnius Rifle Battalion Wolves, who privately is the family of the author of the work (brother of his great-grandfather), was used to present the military operations. The work also outlines the genesis of the formation of the 2nd Polish Corps and the historical background beginning in September 1939 through the German campaign against Poland and the attack of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on the Second Polish Republic on September 17, 1939. Through the process of deportation of Polish citizens deep into the Soviet Union, the path that Polish soldiers had to take to be able to fight in Italy for the monastery hill of Monte Cassino is outlined. In addition, the work includes the history of the formation of archives operating at military units within the Polish Armed Forces in the West during World War II.
dc.abstract.plPraca jest przedstawieniem zarysu historycznego tworzenia się Armii Polskiej w ZSRR, która w późniejszym okresie działań II wojny światowej została przekształcona w 2 Korpus Polski, którego dowódcą został generał Władysław Anders. Przedstawione zostało także tło wykorzystania 2 Korpusu Polskiego w bitwie o Monte Cassino toczącej się w maju 1944 roku w trakcie kampanii alianckiej na półwyspie Apenińskim. Do przedstawienia działań zbrojnych posłużyła postać podporucznika Jana Miszkiela – żołnierza 15. Wileńskiego Batalionu Strzelców „Wilków”, który prywatnie jest rodziną autora pracy (brat pradziadka). W pracy nakreślono także genezę powstania 2 Korpusu Polskiego i tło historyczne rozpoczynające się we wrześniu 1939 roku poprzez kampanię niemiecką przeciwko Polsce i ataku Związku Socjalistycznych Republik Radzieckich na II Rzeczpospolitą Polską 17 września 1939 roku. Poprzez proces deportacji obywateli polskich w głąb Związku Radzieckiego nakreślona została droga, jaką żołnierze polscy musieli przebyć, aby móc zawalczyć we Włoszech o wzgórze klasztorne Monte Cassino. Dodatkowo w pracy ujęta została historia powstawania archiwów działających przy jednostkach wojskowych w ramach Polskich Sił Zbrojnych na Zachodzie w trakcie II wojny światowej.
