SOCJOKULTUROWY ASPEKT POWITAŃ W JĘZYKU SUAHILI

dc.abstract.enToday most linguists agree that language and culture are tightly connected. It is also argued that in order to hold a successfull communication we need to master a sociocultural competence together with the ability to use the grammar and the lexicon of a particular language. There are all sorts of cultural norms and values that one has to obey as there may be fundamental communication and discourse differences between one language and another. This paper is primarily concerned with some issues of discourse strategies and pragmatics of African languages. While the study focuses on greeting practices among Swahili, it is also investigated how learners acquire the pragmatics of Swahili greetings in a foreign language context and how Swahili, as a language of wider communication, is influenced by cultural norms and values of its speakers, for whom Swahili is not a primary language.
dc.abstract.plObecnie język postrzegany jest jako przejaw kultury i uznaje się, że do efektywnej komunikacji nie wystarcza znajomość słownictwa i reguł gramatycznych danego języka, ale równie ważne są kompetencje socjokulturowe, czyli znajomość norm dyskursu. W artykule przybliżam zasady komunikacji w kilku językach afrykańskich. Przedstawiam najczęściej stosowane zwroty powitalne w języku suahili, zasady ich stosowania, oraz najczęstsze błędy popełniane przez uczących się języka. Zwracam także uwagę na to, że język suahili, jako język funkcyjny i język komunikacji ponadetnicznej w całej Afryce Wschodniej, charakteryzuje się wysokim stopniem przyswojenia norm komunikacyjnych stosowanych przez użytkowników, dla których nie jest on językiem rodzimym.
