dc.abstract.enThis paper explores the issue of teaching foreign literature - especially poetry - in the classroom. In foreign language education, the teaching of literature/poetry remains a vehemently debated issue. Which and whose poetry should be taught? How should it be taught? What role should the learners’ culture play in the acquisition of knowledge of the French-language poetry? How can the French language teachers learn the skill of incorporating poetry into their teaching of French as a foreign language? And how can they develop in the learners both linguistic and cultural competence?
