Figura anioła łamiącego maskę lunarną w kaplicy bł. Czesława we Wrocławiu na tle ikonografii konfliktu chrześcijańsko-islamskiego 2. poł XVII i 1. poł XVIII w.

dc.abstract.enThe study is dedicated to the analysis of the figure of the angel breaking the lunar mask located in the Chapel of Blessed Ceslaus in the Church of St. Adalbert in Wrocław. Its aim is to identify analogies and possible sources of inspiration for the figure and to highlight its special role in the entire mausoleum. Considering the anti-Turkish sentiments prevailing in Europe at that time, as well as the individuals involved in promoting the cult of Czesław and the construction of the chapel dedicated to him, analogies for the discussed sculpture were sought among depictions related to the Christian-Islamic conflict that arose in the second half of the 17th and the first half of the 18th century. The primary focus was on graphic and medallion works produced in the circle of the court of Leopold I Habsburg, to a lesser extent those of John III Sobieski and other rulers of that period involved in wars with the Ottoman Empire. The relationships between the imagery of the figure and other elements of anti-Islamic overtone present in the chapel were also discussed, as well as the significance of the mausoleum in the context of other imperial foundations emerging in Silesia during this period.
dc.abstract.plPraca poświęcona jest analizie figury anioła przełamującego maskę lunarną znajdującej się w kaplicy bł. Czesława w kościele św. Wojciecha we Wrocławiu. Jej celem jest wskazanie analogii i możliwych źródeł inspiracji figury oraz zaakcentowanie szczególnej roli, jaką odgrywa ona w całym mauzoleum. Mając na uwadze nastroje antytureckie panujące w ówczesnej Europie oraz osoby zaangażowane w propagowanie kultu Czesława i budowę poświęconej mu kaplicy, analogie dla omawianej rzeźby poszukiwane były wśród przedstawień nawiązujących do konfliktu chrześcijańsko-islamskiego powstałych w 2. poł. XVII i w 1. poł. XVIII wieku. Analizowane były przede wszystkim dzieła graficzne i medalierskie powstałe w kręgu dworu Leopolda I Habsburga, w mniejszym stopniu Jana III Sobieskiego i innych władców tego okresu zaangażowanych w wojny z Imperium Osmańskim. Omówione zostały również zależności między symboliką figury a występującymi w kaplicy innymi elementami o wydźwięku antyislamskim, a także znaczenie mauzoleum w kontekście innych fundacji o wymowie procesarskiej powstających w tym okresie na Śląsku.
