dc.abstract.enThis essay takes the reader on a virtual walk through Rome to illustrate the city’s deep immersion in Greek culture between Augustus and Hadrian. The five sections discuss the Palatine Apollo library as presented in Galen’s Peri alypias, the Pinax ton didaskalon inscription viewed in its Roman context, the Tabulae Iliacae and their ties with Lycophron’s Alexandra, the Hypogaeum of the Porta Maggiore, and the testimo- nies on the career and literary output of Lucius Iulius Vestinus.
