Introductory Research Methods for Students of Information Space Architecture in Poland

The Uniwersytet Warszawsk, University of Warsaw has been offering a Bachelor’s programme in Architektura Przestrzeni Informacyjnych Architecture of Information Spaces since the academic year 2008-2009. Research Methods in Information Science is a compulsory 30-hour introductory course for all students enrolled in the programme. The course aims to familiarise students with research methods in information studies and related fields. It introduces both theory and practice and shows how an appropriate methodology influences research outcomes. The course is divided into nine modules, and the readings consist of internationally recognised texts. This chapter discusses the background to teaching programmes in information space architecture in Poland and the course content and pedagogical approach of the research methods component, as well as the desired outcomes.
