The relations between the European Union and Western Balkans: the case study of Serbia

dc.abstract.enThe thesis examines the relations between the EU and Serbia. Since 2003, the EU has implemented a policy aimed at integrating the Western Balkans, with Serbia being an integral part of this region and sharing similar aspirations for EU integration. The relations between the EU and Serbia are influenced by numerous factors, both positive and negative. By analysing official documents, academic literature, and statements from both Serbian and EU officials, this thesis concludes that closer relations and integration efforts are likely to culminate in Serbia's EU membership. However, it will take time, as significant challenges and drawbacks persist in the relationship between the two entities.
dc.abstract.plPraca analizuje relacje między Unią Europejską a Serbią. Od 2003 roku UE wdraża politykę mającą na celu integrację Bałkanów Zachodnich, w której Serbia odgrywa integralną rolę i dąży do podobnych aspiracji związanych z integracją z UE. Relacje między UE a Serbią są kształtowane przez liczne czynniki, zarówno pozytywne, jak i negatywne. Analizując oficjalne dokumenty, literaturę naukową oraz oświadczenia serbskich i unijnych urzędników, autor stwierdza, że bliższe relacje i wysiłki integracyjne prawdopodobnie zakończą się członkostwem Serbii w UE. Jednakże, potrzeba na to czasu, ponieważ w relacjach między obiema stronami wciąż występują znaczące wyzwania i przeszkody.
