The chapter examines the course of the #MeToo movement in Poland by delineating two main phases in which the campaign progressed: the first, which consisted of the anonymous social media post, and the second, which comprised the call-outs, disclosing the specific cases of sexual misconduct by known men. The authors argue that the Polish #MeToo might rightly be called an “unfinished revolution” which had ambivalent social and political effects: it was one of the factors that led to mainstreaming of the issue of sexual violence against women in public debate, while simultaneously triggering no progress in legal proceedings against rape or sexual violence perpetrators. Additionally, the authors claim that effects of #MeToo on the feminist movement in Poland are dubious as well: while it has strengthened the visibility of anti-sexual violence activism in the public sphere, it has also revealed major ideological and generational divides within the movement on issues related to women’s plausibility and effective strategies of fighting sexual violence.
