Reflexiones en torno a la colaboración académica entre la Universidad de Varsovia y la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México

In the text we present a synthesis of the forty years of academic contacts between the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies of the University of Warsaw and two entities of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) – the Faculty of Geography and the Faculty of Urban and Regional Planning, that represent the longest academic collaboration with Latin American universities in the University of Warsaw. We focus on the two main activities that formed the backbone of the collaboration, mainly the Polish- 16 Mexican symposia organized every two years and joint research projects carried out in Mexico, complemented withy field investigations, especially in rural areas. We underline the importance of this collaboration both for our formation as researchers dedicated to studies on Latin America as for teaching task. In the concluding section we present some recommendations for the future academic collaboration between Warsaw and Toluca.
