An analysis of the Polish and English versions of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir

dc.abstract.enCartoons are an essential part of childhood. However, there are animated series aimed at a wider audience. The translation of such cartoons must therefore not only be faithful to the original, but also understandable to all age groups, sound natural in the target language, and provide a suitable basis for dubbing. This thesis analyses the translation of the animated series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and the Cat Noir, which represents a cartoon aimed at a wider audience. This thesis compares the names in the English and Polish versions. The work is divided into parts. The first examines word games, while the second covers cultural references. Both parts refer to the names of the villains in the series. The third part deals with the names of protagonists and antagonists, while the fourth part contains other names worth noting.
dc.abstract.plKreskówki stanowią istotny element dzieciństwa. Jednakże istnieją seriale animowane kierowane dla szerszej widowni. Tłumaczenie takich kreskówek musi więc być nie tylko wierne oryginałowi, ale także zrozumiałe dla wszystkich grup wiekowych, brzmieć naturalnie w języku docelowym oraz stanowić odpowiednią podstawę dla dubbingu. Ta praca analizuje tłumaczenie serialu animowanego Miraculum: Biedronka i Czarny Kot, który reprezentuje kreskówkę kierowaną dla szerszej widowni. Niniejsza praca porównuje nazwy w wersji angielskiej oraz polskiej. Praca podzielona jest na części. Pierwsza z nich analizuje gry słowne, druga natomiast obejmuje nawiązania kulturowe. Obie części odnoszą się do nazw złoczyńców występujących w serialu. Trzecia część porusza nazwy protagonistów i antagonistów, czwarta zaś zawiera pozostałe nazwy, na które warto zwrócić uwagę.
