The evolution of Russian-Georgian relations in the post-Soviet era

dc.abstract.enThis research conducts an analysis of Russian-Georgian relations in the post-Soviet era, aiming to assess their current status and understand the multifaceted dimensions that have shaped them over time. Hypotheses suggest that Russian-Georgian relations are intricately shaped by historical legacies, political decisions, economic considerations, and cultural factors, contributing to periods of cooperation and conflict. The contemporary dynamics are assumed to be influenced by the historical baggage of the Soviet era, national interests, and the broader geopolitical context in the South Caucasus. The research comprises four chapters. The first explores Georgia’s transformation, from national consciousness to geopolitical adaptations and the evolution of bilateral relations. The second focuses on the normalization of relations, political developments, and dynamics in specific regions. The third examines historical dimensions, criticism levels, and the interconnectedness of the South and North Caucasus. The fourth assesses conceptual aspects, Western powers' influence, and issues recommendations in various areas. The study concludes with further thoughts, summarizing key findings, reiterating recommendations, and providing a conclusive analysis of Russian-Georgian relations, offering insights into potential future trajectories.
