Waltisberg, Michael: Syntax des Ṭuroyo.
dc.abstract.en | Turoyo is classified as a central variety among the Neo-Aramaic (NA) languages. While other dialects (or entire groups of NA) are highly endangered, Turoyo enjoys perhaps the most secure position and remains a thriving variety. This situation obtains despite the fact that many of the speakers of Turoyo have now abandoned their ancestral abodes in south-eastern Turkey and live in diaspora. This is not to say that research on Turoyo is not urgent; on the contrary — Turoyo still features within the language with an overall fragile status and its position as a minority variety wherever spoken requires prompt scholarly interest and activity. |
