La guerre d’information russe contre l’Occident. Le cas de l’Ukraine

Since the beginning of its military engagement in Ukraine in 2014, Russia has launched a massive propaganda campaign in the West in order to legitimize its policy, discredit the post-revolutionary Ukraine and obtain the lifting of Western sanctions. This information war is being realized through media, NGOs, experts and academics, political forces, as well as “trolls” on the Internet. It aims at persuading the Western public opinion that the revolution in Ukraine was a putch supported by the United States, while todays Ukraine is a failed state run by the extreme right. The effectiveness of the Russian propaganda is limited, however the pro-Russian and anti-European political forces are gaining popularity in the West. In this context we must develop a common long-term response strategy to meet this challenge.
