Hungarian and Polish Sinology - Parallel Lives

Uproszczony widok
The author, a Pole with sinological background but also rich - personal, vocational and diplomatic - experience with Hungary and fluency in Hungarian, using interviews with some Hungarian (mainly older generation) representatives of sinology, tries to present the dynamics of Chinese studies in these two Central European countries. Systematization and comparative effort deals with both the Communist and the post-Communist era. What are the parallels of China studies between the two countries? Where are the differences? What was common for the whole region, and what was - or still is-different? Those are the main questions discussed in details in this paper.
