A unique logographic writing: Hittite KÙ-aḫ-ḫi

Uproszczony widok
Thus, the first sign of the alleged ZU.UḪ.ḪI is to be read KÙ,2) not ZU, and the sequence of three signs KÙ-aḫ-ḫi (3sg.pres.) must be interpreted as the logographic writing of the factitive verb šuppiyaḫḫ-i “to purify, to sacrilize” which is based on adjective šuppi- (Sum. KÙ) “pure, purified, sacred”. As most of the logograms in Hittite contexts, KÙ was evidently pronounced here with its Hittite adjectival equivalent, both when reading the tablet aloud or when dictating. As far as I know, it is the only attestation of writing Hitt. šuppiyaḫḫ-i with the logogram.
