Związki między materializmem, empatią i skłonnością do zachowań altruistycznych

dc.abstract.en	This study explores the relationships between materialism, empathy and the propensity for altruistic behavior. The main objective was to investigate whether materialism acts as a predictor of altruistic behavior and to determine the moderating role of empathy in this process. The study was conducted using an online survey with a sample of 164 participants. The statistical analysis showed no direct relationship between materialism and the propensity for altruistic behavior. Similarly, the moderation analysis did not confirm that empathy significantly moderates this relationship. However, the correlation analysis revealed that the strongest link in the study was between age and materialism. The findings confirmed the hypothesis concerning the connection between empathy and altruism, suggesting that empathy remains a key driver of prosocial behavior. Additionally, it was observed that a better subjective assessment of one's financial situation is associated with a higher frequency of altruistic actions. The main limitations of this study relate to the lack of sample representativeness, due to a clear predominance of women and a concentration on residents of large cities. Despite the lack of evidence for a moderation effect, this research provides further insight into the complex nature of materialism.
dc.abstract.pl	W niniejszym badaniu przeanalizowano związki między materializmem, empatią i skłonnością do zachowań altruistycznych. Głównym celem badawczym było sprawdzenie czy materializm jest predyktorem zachowań altruistycznych oraz określenie roli empatii jako moderatora w tej zależności. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone za pomocą ankiety internetowej, w której udział wzięło 164 respondentów. Analizy statystyczne nie wykazały istnienia bezpośredniego związku pomiędzy materializmem a skłonnością do zachowań altruistycznych. Przeprowadzona analiza moderacji nie potwierdziła, aby poziom empatii istotnie moderował tę zależność. Analiza korelacji wykazała, że najsilniejszym związkiem w całym badaniu była zależność między wiekiem a materializmem. Badanie potwierdziło również założenia hipotezy o związku empatii z altruizmem, wykazując, że empatia pozostaje kluczowym czynnikiem stymulującym zachowania pomocowe. Dodatkowo zauważono, że lepsza subiektywna ocena sytuacji finansowej sprzyja częstszemu podejmowaniu działań altruistycznych. Główne ograniczenia badania wiążą się z brakiem reprezentatywności próby badawczej, wynikającym z wyraźnej przewagi kobiet oraz koncentracji na mieszkańcach dużych miast. Mimo braku potwierdzenia efektu moderacji, praca rzuca nowe światło na złożoną naturę materializmu.
